Macie Martin Lawton of Greenville, South Carolina, is what happens when southern charm collides with OCD and just a touch of caffeine-induced chaos. As the Accounting Administrator at Arbor Land Design, she’s the glue holding the office together — if that glue were made of spreadsheets, strong opinions, and sarcasm. Macie manages to promote the firm, balance the books, and still finds time to remind employees to turn their timesheets in – again.
Raised in Greenville, she is a proud alumna of both Wade Hampton High School and Furman University. At Arbor, she keeps the landscape architects from planting things upside down and the engineers from turning everything into a parking lot.* She’s equal parts payroll guru, numbers ninja, and unofficial office therapist.
Off the clock, Macie can be found knee deep in laundry, dodging group texts, and judging people’s landscaping choices from the passenger seat. Her hobbies include politely correcting your grammar in her head, making a to-do list for her weekly to-do list, and pretending she’s going to start a new workout routine “next Monday.” An avid reader, she has been in a Book Club for 10+ years with fellow competitor Leigh Savage. She also enjoys singing loudly in the car. She is married to Bill Lawton, who has likely earned a special place in heaven for tolerating her 25+ years. She is mama to a beautiful and kind daughter, Gracie; a hard working and funny son-in-law, Colt; and a smart and creative son, Murphy.
Macie is proud to be part of Sync for Survivors 2025 – even if she has stage fright. She has personal connections to the cause, including the loss of both of paternal grandparents and her maternal grandfather; her “second mama”, Jean Baiden; and most recently, a sweet friend, Amy Hardwick Emery, to cancer. She is honored to support CSPA which is dear to her heart as the park remains one of her most favorite projects her firm designed.
* Macie actually just makes sure employees get paid, insurance coverages are in place, numbers add up – and wouldn’t know a shrub from a culvert.
